Drive in/drive through
Drive-In or drive through racking is arranged with lanes of a width to cater only for the truck and the unit load width plus operational clearance. The trucks are usually reach trucks or counterbalance trucks and are often guided into and along the aisle length by floor mounted guide rails. This system is highly recommended for the warehouses that have high densities of the same pallets.
There are two types of storing the pallets in lanes. The first one is Drive in system. A type of Pallet racking system that provides storage where pallets are stored two or more deep and where access is gained by driving an industrial truck into a lane with pallets supported along their sides on beam rails supported from the uprights. This type allow the user of storing the pallets in First in/ Last out system by providing just one entry and exit lane.
The other type is drive through system. Drive-Thru Racks offer a completely open system allowing a forklift to drive through completely. This enables pallets to be accessed from either side of the rack, so both last-in-first-out and a FIFO (first-in-first-out) picking system are options by.
